Take a minute to imagine using energy ‘medicine’ to balance your 7 chakras.
At “Strictly Wellness” we encourage clients to eat, drink and wear colors in direct correlation to the Chakra energy points for balance.
At “Courtyard Cafe” we alchemize a combination of fruits and herbs creating “Wicked SpritzA” beverages for the express purpose of balancing the Chakra energy points.
So, what are Chakras? Chakras are described as 7 energy centers within the body.
We have all had experiences with these energy centers when they become drained of strength and vitality, which affects our well-being from time to time. We just might not have known these energy centers are called Chakras.
Once we are aware of the different energy centers and how they actually become depleted of energies, it is important to know how to raise the energy vibrations back up.
You will begin to recognize the clues that a Chakra needs some type of rejuvenating balance when you feel off center, irritable, unbalanced and undernourished.
At Courtyard Cafe we use this age-old knowledge by alchemizing color and the elements of food to fuel the body and fuel the Chakras in many of our dishes and drinks.
It’s easy enough to provide daily consumption of food necessary for growth, health and stamina to nourish the body, but is it balanced and fully nourished?
Eating for long term health and wellbeing takes time to learn.
Understanding how different types of foods aid the body and how to prepare foods for ultimate benefits along with using the different colors of foods for optimum well being is what we are providing for you at the Courtyard Cafe.
As we learn more about the Chakras we realize that each Chakra rules different areas of the body, which then corresponds to body functions of that same area on a symbolic/metaphysical level.
Here are some examples:
- If you’re having difficulty walking, or maybe your leg hurts or you have twisted an ankle, symbolically/metaphysically you could ask: “What is it I don’t want to move forward with?”. Legs help us to move forward, which has to do with the base or 1st Chakra.
- If you’re struggling with breathing, feeling stressed, or having difficulty in a personal relationship, symbolically/metaphysically you could ask: “What is breaking your heart?”, which has to do with the heart area or 4th Chakra.
- If you are having trouble with your eyes; bloodshot or maybe a stye in your eye, symbolically/metaphysically you could ask: “What is it I don’t want to look at?”. Eyes help us to see, which has to do with the 6th Chakra.
So, let’s slow down a bit and summarize.
There are 7 energy Chakras in our body. Each of these 7 Chakras correspond with certain areas of the body and each of these areas virtually rule the different organs in that vicinity.
What that means is, if a particular Chakra is out of balance, then the organs in that area or the nearby body functions would automatically be out of balance also.
It is essential to realize that with a little bit of energy awareness we can preempt any bodily symptoms, pain and discomfort by balancing and healing the Chakra or Chakras, as the case may be.
Listening to our bodies gives us all the clues we need.
This is where healthy food choices are paramount. It is the energy medicine we require to address any issues before they manifest as physical maladies.
Certainly this brings eating to a whole new level… conscious eating.
Each Chakra corresponds to a particular color of the rainbow. Starting with red at the bottom and moving up the body to the head.
Quick question: what is your favorite color and what is your least favorite color?
Take a moment to check in with yourself in order to make sure you aren’t choosing foods based on your personal color preferences. Maybe you don’t choose orange foods or green food at the buffet line because you don’t like the color.
We all have favorite colors and non-favorite colors… for instance, if you don’t like orange or green, there are sure to be little to no shirts or outfits with those colors in your wardrobe!
If this is so, chances are the particular corresponding Chakra is out of balance. Intentionally choose to eat more of your non-favorite colors to create more balance.
Be sure to incorporate the equivalent color options for added healing to boost the intended Chakra. Add a variety of colors. Easy enough to do by making a habit of enjoying smoothies or juices, which are also very beneficial.
With a bit of mental gymnastics, what fun to actively select, prepare and enjoy manifested wellbeing.
Let’s begin by learning a bit more about each Chakra, one at a time.
1st Chakra Edibles
Starting at the bottom, the first Chakra is located at the base of your spine. It’s color is red. This is the grounding Chakra, where your roots and foundation ground you to Earth. You will recognize this Chakra being out of alignment when you are feeling off balance and not firmly anchored to the World around you. It would make sense that root vegetables would make for good edible choices to balance the first Chakra.
Red edibles: Beets, radishes, apples, pomegranates, red meats, paprika, cayenne pepper…
Root veggies: potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, turnips, parsnips, garlic…
2nd Chakra Edibles
Located below your bellybutton known as the Sacral Chakra. It’s color is orange. This Chakra support your emotions, creativity and sexuality issues. You will recognize when you are out of balance when you feel dehydrated, emotionally stressed and sexually impaired. Preparing liquid energy medicines helps this Chakra.
Orange edibles: Melons, mangoes, oranges, carrots, cinnamon…
Liquids: Water, herbal teas, broths, juicing…
3rd Chakra Edibles
Located at the stomach area and is known as the solar plexus. This Chakra supports the self-esteem and self-worth deficiencies. It’s color is yellow. If this Chakra needs balancing, keep away from white foods such as potatoes, flour, rice and processed sugars. Rather stick with the complex carbohydrates which burn naturally and slowly for long lasting energy.
Yellow edibles: Bananas, corn, yellow peppers, cheese, sunflower seeds, turmeric, cumin, curry, chamomile…
Complex Carbohydrates: Whole grains, breads, granola, flax seeds…
4th Chakra Edibles
Located in the area of the heart with green as its primary color. This Chakra supports emotional healing, seeks protection and balance. Energy medicine includes leafy greens along with the cabbage plant based foods.
Green Edibles: Celery, squash, cabbage, scallions, basil, sage, thyme, cilantro, parsley family, green tea…
Leafy Greens: Kale, spinach, lettuce, dandelion greens, chard, bok choy, collards, broccoli…
5th Chakra Edibles
Located in the throat area with blue as its primary color. Finding blue edibles is limiting. Color infused water qualifies as a source of blue albeit in liquid form. Combine colored stones such as sodalite, lapis or blue lace agate with fresh clean water for blue therapy. This Chakra is easy to detect when out of balance. Words that get stuck in your throat due to stuffing your true feelings, being angry, or the inability to stand up for yourself by speaking the truth are all related to an unbalanced 5th Chakra.
Blue Edibles: Blueberries, blue potatoes, blue corn chips, blue gatorade.
Fruits From Trees: Apples, peaches, plums, pears, lemons, limes…
6th Chakra Edibles
Located at the center of the forehead between the eyebrows known as the third eye with an indigo hue as its color. Standing in the dark night sky exudes an indigo color to soak in. This Chakra encourages tapping into higher states of consciousness and developing the psychic senses.
Indigo Edibles: Eggplant, purple kale, plums, guanabana, soursop, certain indigo wines, grapes and grape juice.
Berries: blue, black and raspberries.
7th Chakra Edibles
Located at the crown of the head with lavender or white for purity and wisdom as its primary color. This Chakra is at the highest point or communication center for Spirit channels. Setting the stage through the use of incense and smudging provides a safe and purified area for spiritual connections.
White Edibles: Mushrooms, garlic, onion, coconut
Incense: Inhale the garnered smoke from herbs such as sage, myrrh and frankincense during rituals used for purifying the area.
As you can see there is a bit of a science, if you will, incorporating edibles of all the colors of the rainbow, which can certainly support and balance the Chakras.
Some may find this article hard to ‘swallow’ and scoff at the idea of color related to energy medicine. No worries as there is certainly nothing to lose in experimenting with the possibilities.
For the rest of you, this article may be just enough to ‘wet your whistle’ creating curiosity to learn more about the Chakras. A simple search on the net will bring up a simple diagram indicating exactly where the Chakras are located.
Either way, we invite you to stop by Courtyard Cafe where we created the “Wicked SpritzA”, an alchemized, water infused drink full of fruits and herbs to support the different Chakras.
Unsure which Chakra needs balancing? Our staff will be happy to direct you and even show you a simple chart indicating exactly where the Chakras are.
